Should biocides be used in ducts?
Category: Ductless Air And Heating Units Post By: Don Tucker (Saint Paul, MN), 08/12/2016

Many duct cleaner propose using biocides to these to stop the growth of molds in the ducts. However EPA and NADAC do not recommend their use as they may cause inhalation risks. Mold, mildew, and bacterial growth breed and grow only on organic material. As a result they will thrive on the dirt and debris, which will anyways be removed by a professional cleaner.
